Hello-ness. My name is Anthony. Yeah, pretty exciting, I know. Well, let's see, I go to Olathe North High School in Olathe, KS. I like to read books, hang out, play guitar, listen to music, then play more guitar, and then listen to music while I play guitar...yeah, music is my life...and I'm also in the school band. Ahh, band...my life-ness away from life-ness (aka music), especially during marching season. I have a car-ness, which automatically makes me better-ness than about half of the school. Yep-ness. You can't deny-ness it. Well, that's about all I really feel like sharing with you at this moment, so let's finish this up with the random-ness bits of useless-ness Student Naturalist information that I'm supposed to put in here. Tootles.
Genetic Drift
Genetic drift — along with natural selection, mutation, and migration — is one of the basic mechanisms of evolution.
In each generation, some individuals may, just by chance, leave behind a few more descendants than other individuals. The genes of the next generation will be the genes of the "lucky" individuals, not necessarily the healthier or "better" individuals. That, in a nutshell, is genetic drift. It happens to ALL populations — there's no avoiding the vagaries of chance.
